Cop facing rape plaint loses badge, firearm

CEBU City Police Office (CCPO) Director Joel Doria has ordered the relief of a police officer 2 who allegedly raped a 20-year-old woman.

Doria said that the police officer was stripped of his badge and his government-issued firearm after the woman filed the complaint against him before the Fuente Police Station.

"We already placed him in the holding unit. We'll dismiss him if the allegation is true so that no one would follow what he did. Sa atin naman, kung talagang nagkasala ka, panagutan mo o kung inosenti ka at wala kang kasalanan (If you commit a crime, then you answer for it or if you're innocent) then you prove it in court," Doria said.

Internal cleansing

Doria said that they're validating the report.

"If found to be true, we will press charges against him. Marami na tayong napatanggal nung may mga report, it turned out positive at kasama yan sa internal cleansing natin (We've already dismissed many cops who were proven to have committed a crime as part of our internal cleansing)," Doria said.

According to the woman, the policeman raped her on the night of May 15. Then last June 3, she suffered bruises after he allegedly touched her breasts. (JOB)
