Cops looking at business angle in businesswoman shooting

THE Mambaling Police are now looking into the angle that the ambush-slay of a Japanese businesswoman on N. Bacalso Ave., Barangay Duljo-Fatima was business-related.

Chief Inspector Randy Caballes, chief of the Mambaling police of the Cebu City Police Station, said that the victim, Junko Hamada, 71 had been residing in Cebu for 20 years.

"She's the president of Beams Philippines Export Corporation, a furniture company. We'll start from there and we'll also check on her personal life," Caballes said.

Hamada's husband and son were in Japan, Caballes said.

Friends of the victim went to the Mambaling Police on Friday night upon hearing the incident.

Hamada, who was reportedly on her way home to Escario, Cebu City was ambushed by two motorcycle-riding assailants in the junction box infront of a gasoline station.

The assailants were not wearing bonnets, only helmets, the Mambaling chief said.

Investigators are now scouring the vicinity where the incident happened for additional close-circuit television (CCTV) cameras that may have captured the ambush. (JOB/SunStar Cebu)
