Daanbantayan schools to serve as quarantine facilities for PUMs

EIGHT schools in the municipality of Daanbantayan are to be turned into quarantine centers for the persons under monitoring (PUMs) in the area and those who are experiencing influenza-like illness (ILI).

This was decided by the Incident Command System and the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on Covid-19 so that people would know where to go should they start showing symptoms.

Barangays Bakhawan, Paypay and Bitoon are assigned to Bakhawan National High School; Calapay, Bagay, Malbago and Bateria to Calape National High School; Malinging, Dalingding and Tinubdan to Malingin National High School; Poblacion and Pajo to Daanbantayan National High School; Tapilon, Lanao and Agujo to Tapilon National High School; Maya, Talisay and Tominjao to Maya National High School; Brgy. Logon to Logon National High School; and Brgy. Carnaza to Carnaza Elementary School.

The isolation centers will admit individuals who have come in contact with a Covid-19 patient, have been exposed to places with a high number of positive cases and those coming from Cebu City.

These individuals will have to undergo 14 to 15-day quarantine.

To ensure that the PUMs are well taken care of in the facilities, the municipal councilors and barangay chiefs have been tasked to serve as camp managers.

Per latest data, Daanbantayan has had one positive case from Brgy. Lanao. The patient was a 58-year-old male who died on April 25 while on his way to Cebu City to seek medical help as he had difficulty breathing.

His body was subjected to a post-mortem swab test on the same day and the results came out positive for Covid-19 on April 29. (ANV / CCP)
