THE local government unit (LGU) of Danao City Government is planning to create an ordinance that would punish violators of cutting classes.

The city government will soon start holding consultations with the residents and other concerned individuals to inform them about the proposed ordinance.

The LGU believes that truancy or cutting classes is ‘intentional, unjustified, unauthorized or illegal absence from compulsory education.’

"Aron masiguro nga magiyahan ang kabatan-unan ug makahimo og collaborative effort ang lokal nga pamunoan, tinun-an, ginikanan ug tanang sektor, gipanday kining ordinansa," saysay sa LGU.

(This ordinance was created to make sure that the youth can be guided and that the community leadership, students, parents, and other sectors can work together).

Once approved, the ordinance will be called “An ordinance prohibiting truancy among elementary, junior and senior high school students in Danao City, for management and administration thereof.”

According to the ordinance, students are no longer allowed to loiter during classes, with the exception of emergencies, for which they must be accompanied by their parents and obtain permission to miss class.

“Aduna sab nagpaabot nga penalties ug recommendation for rescue and counseling. Ang tibuok kopya niining ordinansa ipahibaw unya sa publiko kung maaprobahan na kini,” it added.

(Penalties and recommendations for rescue and counseling also await violators. The full copy of this ordinance will be announced to the public when it is approved). (ANV, TPT)
