THE public market in Danao City that was hit by a fire Thursday night, June 2, has been closed to public, as firefighting operations continued Friday morning, June 3, 2022.

The Danao City Government said in a Facebook post Friday, June 3, that as of 9 a.m., authorities are still conducting “fire overhaul” to determine what caused the blaze.

"Kini ang usa sa mga last steps sa firefighting process. Kung mahuman na kini, sugdan ang imbestigasyon aron masuta ang hinungdan ug ang kinatibuk-ang danyos," said the Davao City Government.

(This is the last step in the firefighting process. Once the fire overhaul is over, investigation on what caused the fire and how much damage it had cost will follow.)

The City Government asked the residents of Danao not to go to the area first to avoid inhaling the smoke, which may cause health problems, especially to children.

The fire broke out at 8:18 p.m. Thursday, June 2. It was declared fire out around 6 a.m. Friday, June 3.

The Danao City Government personnel met with the market vendors affected Friday morning, June 3, to address their concerns.
