THE Cebu City Government can only house around 300 pilgrims who wish to avail themselves of free accommodation in the "devotee city" during the Fiesta Señor due to limited space.

Councilor Francis Esparis told SunStar Cebu Wednesday, January 4, 2022, that the devotee city will be installed in between Fort San Pedro and the Cebu Central Post Office near Plaza Independencia.

Esparis said that due to the small land area, compared to its previous location beside the Compaña Maritima, the City Government can only put up a few container vans that will be used to shelter the devotees.

In previous Fiesta Señor celebrations, the number of devotees who have availed themselves of free accommodation reached over 1,000 due to the availability of space.

The construction of the devotee city will begin on January 9 and pilgrims can start billeting on January 13 to 15, said Esparis.

Esparis added that pilgrims can avail themselves of a space at the devotee city on a "first come, first served" basis.

"Importante ni nga adunay kasayuran ang pipila nato nga mga ka-igsuonan nga ang atoang ma accommodate dili kaayo daghan tungod kay dili ta makabutang og daghan nga mga vans," said Esparis. (IRT)
