THE drugs found during the surprise greyhound operation at the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) last Friday, September 7, are not ecstasy but are drugs for inmates with hypertension.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Central Visayas Director Wardley Getalla said Monday, September 10, that the confiscated tablets are over-the-counter drugs.

"We tested the tablets and nag-test sila na negative for any dangerous drug and they are most probably over-the-counter," Getalla said.

PDEA earlier suspected that the tablets confiscated were party drugs like ecstasy.

However, the CPDRC doctor already said that they have distributed drugs to some inmates with high blood pressure.

Getall added that they are not discounting the possibility of illegal drugs sneaking past jail guards. (JOB/Arnold Bustamante)
