DSWD 7 opens search for model 4Ps family

AFTER a three-year break, the search for Model Pantawid Pamilya returns this year.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas (DSWD 7) is currently looking for new family ambassadors for the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

The search is open to all beneficiary families of 4Ps and must include a father, mother and children, or solo parents with their children.

The objective of the search is to identify beneficiary families of 4Ps who maintain strong family bonds, demonstrate positive Filipino values, and create positive impacts in the community where they reside.

The nominees must be active program beneficiaries for at least two years, have a good standing in the community with no involvement in any harmful activities such as gambling, prostitution, child labor, extortion, or any other illegal activities. They must comply with all the conditions of the program and must be at least Level 3 in the most recent Social Welfare and Development Indicator (SWDI) assessment conducted by DSWD.

The criteria include a family that maintains strong unity and harmony and upholds Filipino values even amid challenging situations (25 percent), a family that strives to improve their quality of life despite difficult circumstances (20 percent), a family that actively participates in community activities (20 percent), a family that positively communicates and interacts within the family (20 percent), and a family that practices and promotes a healthy lifestyle and takes care of the environment (15 percent).

The simultaneous search will take place in the provinces of Bohol, Cebu and Siquijor on August 11, 2023, while the search in Negros Oriental will be held on August 10. The first-placers from each province will compete at the regional level.

All provincial and regional winners will receive cash prizes and certificates of recognition.

The winners of the regional search will participate in the National Pantawid Pamilya Family Day in the last week of September in Metro Manila, along with other regional winners from across the country.

Previous Model Pantawid Pamilya regional winners from the Central Visayas region who made it to the national level were the Sederiosa family from Sagbayan, Bohol, who became the fourth runner-up in 2013, and the Ewican family from Carmen, Bohol, who became the second runner-up.

In 2014, the Torrentira family from Sagbayan, Bohol was the second runner-up, and the Garay Family from Jagna, Bohol won the title of grand winner in 2016.

The Catubig family from Maria, Siquijor was declared as the fourth runner-up in 2017, and the Campugan family from Cordova, Cebu was the second runner-up in 2018.

In 2019, the Elardo family from Badian, Cebu was the regional winner.
