THE Department of Social Welfare and Development Central Visayas (DSWD) 7 has targeted 50 special disbursing officers (SDO) who will accommodate the households in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (Gida) for the distribution of the second tranche of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP).

The DSWD 7, in a conference with the media on Tuesday, June 9, 2020, said it has identifed 74 Gidas in Central Visayas.

Of the number, 36 are in Bohol, 20 are in Cebu and 18 in Negros Oriental.

Since DSWD will undertake the cash aid distribution for the second tranche, it will use digital platforms such as the ReliefAgad app and the use of electronic payment method for non-Gida areas.

The agency said only qualified low-income households in Cebu will benefit from the SAP’s second tranche as it’s the only province in the region to remain under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) as of May 1.

A total of 585,376 low-income households in Cebu are initially qualified for the second tranche. This is equivalent to about P3.5 billion.

Of those households, 146,180 are in Gida while 439,196 are located in non-Gida.

The agency said although it does not have the schedule of the second payout yet, it has done the necessary preparations.

The DSWD 7 said the local government units are expected to finish the validation of the left-outs (those qualified low-income households that were not included in the first tranche of the cash aid) by June 15.

As of writing, a total of 237,468 left-outs have been listed. Of these, 30,657 are from Bohol, 186,151 are from Cebu and 20,660 are from Negros Oriental.

Of the total number, 11,684 households belong to Gida while 125,784 belong to non-Gida. (WBS)
