Filipino-Chinese caught in Barangay Guadalupe selling 'shabu'

A FILIPINO-Chinese was caught by authorities Tuesday afternoon, May 1, in a drug bust on Quijada Street in Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City.

Suspect Erwin Yu Chua, 47, yielded two packs of methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu, with an estimated market value of P36,000.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Central Visayas information officer Leia Albiar said neighbors reported Chua's alleged illegal activity.

A surveillance confirmed the suspect's involvement in illegal drug trade.

Motorcycle-for-hire drivers were Chua's regular customers.

Guadalupe barangay officials also received reports about Chua, who allegedly ignited troubles when high on drugs.

Chua admitted to SuperBalita Cebu that he is a drug user, but he denied selling shabu, adding that he is into food business.

He will be facing complaints for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Kevin A. Lagunda/SunStar Cebu, Guam P. Logronio/SuperBalita Cebu)
