FIRE struck Sitio Lusimba, Barangay Poblacion Pardo, Cebu City on Saturday night, Oct. 29, 2022.

FO4 Fulbert Navarro, fire investigator on duty, said up to P3 million worth of properties went up in smoke after the blaze destroyed two houses.

He said the fire started on the second floor of Plasida Ambrad’s house, which is occupied by her son, Jiggs Ceballos Ambrad.

Navarro said they still couldn’t determine the cause since it was dark. He said they would return on Sunday morning to continue their investigation.

After receiving the alarm, the situation was immediately raised to first alarm at 7:15. The fire was brought under control at 7:26 p.m. Fire out was declared two minutes later.

Among the responders to the scene were members of Cebu City’s first all-women fire brigade from one of the fire sub-stations in the barangay.

Its chief, SFO4 Anadith Trasporte, and her crew of 14 were introduced to the public by the Cebu City Fire Office on Thursday, Oct. 27.

Trasporte, in an interview, had said they wanted to show that female firefighters were equally capable as their male counterparts. (BBT / PJB)
