CEBU City Police Office (CCPO) Director Royina Garma said she is “a bit” disappointed when Inayawan Barangay Captain Kirk Bryan Repollo did not show up when police operatives were able to confiscate 18 kilos of illegal drugs in the area.

Despite it, Garma said the barangay is still active in giving them information on the illegal drug activities in their area through the barangay anti-illegal drug abuse council (BADAC).

Although there was a barangay representative who appeared to witness our inventory, Garma said it would have been better if Repollo, as the father of the barangay, went to check on the situation.

“I was there when the 18 kilos of illegal drugs were confiscated and we were looking for the barangay representative. Meron naman nag- appear na barangay representative to witness, anyway under the law, di naman mandatory na kapitan but siguro it’s an 18 -kilo drug in your area of responsibility, para sa akin, in my opinion, I think it would be (proper) siguro, if the father of the barangay should have appeared,” Garma told reporters.

Police officers from Pardo Police Station conducted an anti-illegal drug operation in Inayawan, which led to the arrest of Elymar Ancajas who yielded 18 kilos of “shabu” worth P122.4 million.

Garma said they were in the area for more than four hours to conduct the inventory.

“We stayed in the barangay from 3:00 a.m., to past 7:00 or 8:00 in the morning na kami umalis doon,” she said.

Garma, who had a meeting with Mayor Tomas Osmeña on Thursday, March 7 said she did not discuss the matter with the mayor.

Repollo is an ally of Osmeña and is running as city councilor in the south district under the Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan.

Repollo recently drew the ire of Police Regional Office 7 Director Debold Sinas after the barangay captain did not agree to the site where the new police station will be built.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) was supposed to build a police station worth P5 million in Inayawan but construction was halted because the barangay wanted it built elsewhere.

The groundbreaking was held in April last year./ RVC
