Gwen, Pablo John file COCs

CEBU Rep. Gwendolyn Garcia (Cebu, 3rd) formally filed her certificate of candidacy before the Cebu Provincial Election Office earlier today, October 12, signifying her intention to run again for Governor.

Garcia filed her COC as she celebrated her 63rd birthday. Aside from Garcia, her younger brother Pablo John also filed his candidacy to run as representative of the Third District of Cebu.

They were accompanied by their father and former Cebu Rep. Pablo Garcia, their older brother Winston, members of the family, friends and close allies. In an interview, Garcia vowed to bring back the “glorious days” of the Cebu Provincial Government which was felt during her term as governor from 2004 to 2013.

“Our number one battle cry is to make Cebu number one again,” Garcia said.

Garcia claimed that some of the programs and projects she initiated in her administration have been left abandoned by the current administration of Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide just because she initiated it in her term.

She cited the neglect of the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC) as one example of the current administration’s faults.

“Ang CICC kay garbo sa mga Sugbuanon. We can host international events, tournaments and conventions. But now it has been abandoned and has been used as a relocation for fire victims,” Garcia added. (JKV)
