'Habal-habal' driver caught after daring cops to a fistfight

A MOTORCYCLE-for-hire driver was arrested after he challenged police officers to a fistfight past 5 p.m. Monday, April 30, in Sitio San Miguel, Barangay Linao, Talisay City, Cebu.

Suspect Zuriel Obrero Deiparine, 39, yielded a .38 revolver loaded with four bullets and four small packs of shabu worth P2,000.

Before his arrest, mobile patrollers PO2 Ryan Baculi, PO2 Jim Canabe, PO2 Carl Modest Sebial and PO1 Edwin Magcauas went to Talisay City Jail.

While the patrol car was on its way to Talisay City Police Station, the suspect blocked the road.

He allegedly showed his firearm tucked in the waist. The suspect ran in the interior portion of the village, but the officers gave chase and caught him.

Deiparine will be charged before the city prosecutor's office for unjust vexation, direct assault, illegal possession of firearm, election gun ban violation and illegal drugs. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
