A HOUSE caretaker was shot dead in Sitio Lower Tawong, Barangay Valladolid, Carcar City, southern Cebu past 8 a.m. on Monday, July 31, 2023.

The victim was identified as Rogen Montefalcon Fajardo, of legal age, who was from Negros Occidental, but temporarily residing in Barangay Magkagong, Sibonga town, southern Cebu.

The suspects were identified as Roy Bacus, a construction worker from Negros Occidental and Rodel Campania, a resident of Valladolid.

According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Mark Gifter Sucalit, the chief of Carcar City Police Station, the victim sustained six gunshot wounds to his left eye and body.

He was brought to Carcar Provincial Hospital, where he was declared on arrival by his attending physician.

After the incident, Bacus and Campania fled on board a motorcycle.

Campania, however, was apprehended by the police during a hot pursuit operation, while Bacus eluded arrest.

Sucalit said that Fajardo and Bacus were having an argument when the latter pulled out a handgun and shot the former several times.

"Manag kaila rani sila nya nagkalalis. Wala pata kabalo unsay ilang gilalisan. Ang cause ra gyud ani ang personal nila nga away," Sucalit said.

(We don't know yet what they were arguing about, but they were acquaintances. This is only due to their personal conflict).

Marvin, the victim's brother, gave a testimony about the incident.(AYB, TPT)
