A 52-YEAR-OLD illegal Swertres usher was arrested in an entrapment in Barangay Poblacion in the southwestern town of Moalboal, Cebu on Saturday afternoon, August 20, 2022.
Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Cebu Field Unit led by Lt. Col. David Mahilum and members of the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company-Cebu Provincial Police Office conducted the operation against Elizabeth Goles Castro, a resident of Barangay Tomonoy, past 5:30 p.m.
Recovered from the suspect were paraphernalia for the numbers game and P486 in cash believed to be proceeds from illegal gambling.
Castro will be charged with violating Republic Act 9287, “an act increasing the penalties for illegal numbers game, amending certain provisions of Presidential Decree 1602, and for other purposes.”
The Police Regional Office Central Visayas earlier warned that it would intensify operations against illegal gambling.
Authorities had announced that only the Saturn Gaming N’ Amusement Corp. is authorized by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office to operate swertres or STL in Cebu Province. (BBT, PJB)
