THE local government unit of Minglanilla in southern Cebu is imposing a limit on the number of persons who will join the municipality's popular Sugat Kabanhawan Festival on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022.
This was announced by Sugat Kabanhawan Festival overall director Marvey Caño.
To avoid congestion, only those who have secured the tickets issued by the municipality will be allowed to witness the event.
The town's police and health personnel will be tasked to check the tickets.
"We are on Alert Level 2; we do an outdoor activity. The audience are pre-registered. The tickets are free and these can be claimed at the tourism office where they register upon presenting their vaccination cards. The tickets, which have QR codes, are by invitation," Caño said in a mix of Cebuano and English.
Minglanilla information officer Jay Fernandez earlier said the municipality will now resume its Sugat activity two years after being suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The dawn Sugat Kabanhawan festival highlights a dance presentation and a procession.
Its cast including dancers and propmen, and vendors near the venue should also be fully vaccinated.
Based on data from the Visayas Vaccination Operations Center, the municipality had been able to inoculate 75.62 percent of its total eligible population as of March 30.
Caño said since the municipality had just experienced calamities like the Covid-19 pandemic and typhoon Odette last Dec. 16, 2021, they prefer to hold a simple but memorable activity. (TPT)
