Key gov’t leaders to headline nat’l developers convention

THE Subdivision and Housing Developers Association Inc. (SHDA) will gather key government leaders, creatives, and industry leaders in the housing and real estate sector as it hosts the 31st edition of the National Developers Convention on Oct. 5 and 6, 2023 at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Cebu City.

With the theme, “LOKAL NA BAI: Building Nationwide Growth through Regional Development,” this year’s convention aims to attract around 400 developers, policymakers, suppliers, and various housing industry stakeholders. The convention will explore innovative approaches to spurring economic growth at the grassroots level, while contributing to the broader national development objectives.

The first day will focus on issues and concerns that affect the housing industry, while the second day will be on regional success stories in real estate development.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is expected to deliver a video message highlighting the administration’s flagship housing program, the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Program.

Prominent figures from the national sector set to headline the event include Sen. Joseph Victor Ejercito, chairman of the Senate Committee on Urban Planning, Housing and Resettlement; Rep. Jose Francisco Benitez, chairman of the House Committee on Housing and Urban Development; and Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar, among others.

The speaker lineup offers a blend of insights on creatives in the real estate industry, featuring Slater Young, celebrity entrepreneur, engineer and 8990 Holdings brand ambassador; Hanky Lee of The Henry Hotels; Kenneth Cobonpue, multi-awarded industrial designer; and Cyndy Jarabata, chief executive officer of TAJARA Hospitality Group.

Emphasizing the convention’s regional growth focus, several local government unit (LGU) leaders, including Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes, Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez of Bacolod City and Hermosa, Bataan Mayor Joseph Inton, will share their respective LGUs’ best practices.

The two-day event will also offer panel discussions to provide in-depth insights into the current state and future prospects of the housing industry.
