THERE would be additional tourism attraction in Lapu-Lapu City should the proposed construction of floating cottages be finalized and approved soon.

City Agriculture and Fishery Office head Alex Baring told SunStar Cebu on Friday, July 22, 2022, that Mayor Junard "Ahong" Chan wants to construct floating cottages in the seawaters of Lapu-Lapu City for additional tourism attraction.

Baring said the mayor wants the floating cottages established at the coastal area near the Mactan Shrine.

"Gusto niya didto kay nibisita man si mayor didto ug nakita niya nga dunay lugar nga nindot mabutangan maong gipalihok niya para mabutangan og floating cottages," he said.

(The mayor sees the potential to put up floating cottages there (in Mactan Shrine) after he visited the area).

Baring, however, said it will take time to finalize the proposed project since this would have to pass through a lot of scrutiny.

He said the proposal is now at the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO), which is in charge of formulating and implementing sectoral and land use plans in the city.

Baring further said they also have to make sure that the project is not harmful to the environmental.
