Lodging house turns into drug den; police probes owner’s son

POLICE are looking into the role of a son of the owner of KSL Lodging House in the illegal drug operation that was discovered in one of the establishment’s rooms.

The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) said it will conduct a deeper probe to determine if Kenneth Ongsuco Lerio, whose family owns the lodging house, was the source of illegal drugs that were confiscated from suspect Archie Villanueva.

Lerio, who hails from Toledo City, is currently detained at the Cebu City Jail, following his arrest during a buy-bust operation on March 8, 2023.

The 39-year-old is facing charges of drug possession and drug selling after police seized 25 sachets of shabu valued at P238,000 from him.

Last Saturday night, March 18, agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and Carbon Police Station, raided the lodging house and arrested Villanueva along with four others.

Villanueva, 42, was tagged as the “maintainer” of the drug den inside one of rooms of the lodging house located along Leon Kilat Street, Barangay Kalubihan.

The CCPO will meet with owners and managers of similar establishments to prevent the use of their establishments for illegal activities and prevent other crimes like human trafficking from taking place inside the buildings. (AYB / PJB)
