A MAN was injured after his friend stabbed him with a glass shard Sunday night in Sitio Caguba-an, Barangay Valencia, Alegria Cebu.

Eric Belarmino, 44, was having a drinking spree with his friend Jessie Ronato, when the latter stabbed him.

After a series of bottles of alcohol, Belarmino started to get drunk and pulled a firearm and shouted: "Kun kinsay gahi akong pahumokon!"

This apparently irked Ronato, who smashed a bottle and stabbed Belarmino with a shard.

Senior Inspector Efren Diaz Jr., the town police chief, said the victim suffered a stab wound in the neck. He was bought to Reinhard Wirtgen Hospital in the town for treatment.

Valencia village watchman Charlon Cortiz turned over to the police Belarmino's .357 revolver loaded with two bullets. It was recovered by one of the victim's drinking buddies.

Ronato will be facing frustrated homicide, while Belarmino will be charged with illegal possession of firearms before the Provincial Prosecutor's Office. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
