Mandaue City purchases 5 new patient transport vehicles

THE Mandaue City government purchased five units of patient transport vehicles worth P1 million each, which will complement the existing ambulance of the city.

The patient trasnport vehicle is an L300 FB Van type, which was delivered on December 24, 2020.

In an interview with lawyer John Eddu Ibañez, the executive secretary of Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes, he said the vehicle will be used for any patient response, particularly in Covid-19-related response, that is not emergency.

This way, the city could maximize the use of the eight existing ambulances of the city to be used only in life-threatening responses.

Ibañez said the function of the newly purchased vehicles are the same as a regular ambulance as it has sirens, blinkers and stretchers.

However, the transport vehicles do not have medical equipment such as monitor and other machines that an ambulance has.

Ibañez said its main function is to transport stable patients for check-up or any medical assistance, as the city also offers these type of services. (KFD)
