PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. told residents of Cebu province on May 27, 2023 that his administration will continuously provide support to achieve development and economic prosperity for the whole country.
In his speech before the crowd at the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV) in Cebu City, Marcos said his administration is facilitating the implementation of big-ticket infrastructure projects to accelerate the development not only of the province but also of the entire Philippines.
“Nakita ninyo naman, marami tayong kailangan pinapaspas, minamadali doon sa trabaho ng paglagay ng mga pagbabago, paggawa ng lahat ito, lahat nung nakikita ninyong problema na hinaharap natin. Precisely, lahat talaga nung ating isinisigaw noong kampanya,” Marcos said.
“Nandoon talaga ‘yung agrikultura, nandiyan ‘yung energy, nandiyan ang ating mga maliliit na negosyante, ‘yung mga MSMEs (micro, small, and medium enterprises) na ating tinatawag. Dahan-dahan natin talagang tinutulungan sila at masasabi ko naman na ‘yung ating pinaglaban noong nakaraang halalan ay hindi lang naman slogan ang ating isinigaw at ‘yung pinag-usapan ay talagang ginagawa natin,” he added.
Marcos said his administration is in the right direction as it has fulfilled some of the campaign promises since he assumed office.
“Sa ngayon, ‘yung ekonomiya natin dito sa Pilipinas, kasama ko lang ‘yung mga business community ng European Union, ‘yung mga iba’t-ibang bansa. Eh tayo ngayon ang fastest growing country in the world,” he said.
“Tama ‘yung ating direksyon. Tama ‘yung ating mga iniisip. Tama naman ‘yung ating mga ipinaglaban. Talagang ipinaglaban naman talaga natin ‘yan dahil hindi naman naging madali. Syempre wala naman kampanya na madali,” the President pointed out, saying his call for unity has become effective in nation building.
Marcos also thanked Cebu residents, one of the biggest voting blocs in the country, for their overwhelming support and trust during the last presidential election.
“Dahil sa tulong ninyo at napakalaking bahagi syempre ang Central Visayas, napakalaking bahagi ng voting population ng buong Pilipinas,” he said.
“Where Cebu goes...maraming sumusunod. So, it is very important ‘yung ginawa ninyo para naabot natin itong magandang pagkapanalo at masasabi natin, may unity tayong pinag-uusapan. Nagawa natin dahil lahat sumama na sa atin,” Marcos said, adding that everyone is willing to help his administration to uplift and improve the lives of Filipinos.
Earlier in the day, Marcos attended the grand launch of Pier 88 seaport project in Liloan, Cebu.
Among those who graced the event were Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte, Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco, Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista, Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, and local officials of the municipality of Liloan.
As Pier 88 serves as a port for passenger ferries and cargo vessels, it will eventually become an economic gateway for northern Cebu. While providing faster alternative route for commuters, the initiative will also be a mixed-use development project that will cater to businesses and serve as a park for recreation.
The port development project, undertaken by the local government of Liloan, in partnership with Pier 88 Ventures Inc. and Topline Group of Companies, has an estimated total cost of P2 billion.
It will have a green commercial building equipped with solar panels, and a Smart Port System that will feature an Automated Ticketing System. (PR)
