Mayor Chan's inauguration likely on June 27

THE inauguration of reelected Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan is tentatively scheduled on June 27, 2022.

Chan said they are planning to invite Senator Juan Edgardo "Sonny" Angara to administer his oath.

"Amo pang gihangyo si Senator Angara since barangay captain ko, na mayor ko, siya gyud mag administer sa akong oath," he said.

Chan said his inaugural would probably take place at Jpark Island Resort & Waterpark in Mactan.

But prior to his oath-taking, Chan and his entire slate will hold a victory party called KAABAG Victory Concert at the GMC Lot near thr first Mactan-Mandaue Bridge on Friday, June 17.

The mayor won in the May 9 elections as he secured 160,664 votes against outgoing Lapu-Lapu City Lone District Representative Paz Radaza who garnered 49,535 votes.

His wife, incoming lone district Representive Ma. Cynthia “Cindi” King-Chan, also won in the general elections against outgoing City Councilor Michael Dignos, an ally of Radaza.

King-Chan secured 147,631 votes against 38,844 votes garnered by Dignos in the race.
