MCWD lifts boil water advisory

RESIDENTS and occupants of business establishments along B. Rodriguez Street in Cebu City can now drink and use water from the tap without boiling it.

This as the Metropolitan Cebu Water District lifted its Boil Water advisory on Tuesday, Feb. 26 after water sampling tests showed the water was no longer contaminated.

Charmaine Rodriguez-Kara, MCWD’s community relations and external affairs head, said they lifted the advisory around 10 a.m. after receiving confirmation that the water coming out from faucets from corner Fuente Osmeña circle up to V. Rama Avenue was not contaminated.

Kara said they were able to solve the issue by conducting rehabilitation works on some of their water connections in the area on Monday, Feb. 25.

On Thursday, Feb. 21, MCWD issued the advisory after receiving complaints from residents that water coming out of their faucets had an unusual odor.

They immediately sent a Leak Detection Team to the area to determine if there was a leak in the water connection there, but they did not find any.

They also visited the houses of some of their customers in the area to check where the contamination was coming from.
