A MECHANIC died after his motorcycle was hit by a speeding delivery van along the national highway in Barangay Lugo, Borbon town, northern Cebu around 9 a.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2023.
The victim was identified as Arnulito Alburo, 64, married, a resident of the said place.
The driver of delivery van, Placido Lañojan, 42, a resident of Barangay San Jose, Cebu City, surrendered to the police.
Captain Derrick Ynot, chief of Borbon Police Station, told SunStar Cebu that the victim was driving a motorcycle when he was hit by the delivery van coming from Daanbantayan town.
Ynot said that according to Lañojan, a tractor suddenly turned left upon reaching the said place; however, the motorcycle also did so, hitting its driver.
It was learned that the victim was going to a store on the opposite side of the road when the incident occurred.
Lañojan will be facing charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property. (GPL, TPT)
