AROUND 400 policemen will be deployed while traffic rerouting will be implemented during the thanksgiving mass for Venerable Teofilo Camomot in Carcar City, southern Cebu on Wednesday, July 27, 2022.

Lt. Col. Ardioleto Cabagnot, chief of Carcar City Police Station, said at least 400 policemen will be deployed in their city to provide security in one of the major events of the Archdiocese of Cebu which is expected to be attended by prelates from the Holy See.

Cabagnot said they requested at least three teams from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion to come up with the number of policemen that will be deployed to Carcar to provide security and order during the celebration.

The final security briefing and dry run will be held on Saturday, July 23.

“We already have an initial list of guests and this will be finalized maybe on Saturday, then we will have a walk through this coming Monday or Tuesday,” Cabagnot said in Cebuano.

Rerouting

As traffic congestion is expected to occur during the event, Cabagnot encouraged motorists who are going to travel on that day to leave their homes early so as not to get stuck in traffic, especially that they will implement the traffic rerouting around early morning on Wednesday.

Vehicles going toward Barili town in southwest Cebu and Sibonga in southern Cebu will be directed toward Camella Homes in Carcar City and then pass through Barangay Liburon and exit at the diversion road in Barangay Poblacion 2 before going to their respective destinations.

Those going to Cebu City are advised to turn left towards the new Carcar City Hall and continue on to their destination.

Cabagnot said they would also be monitoring the presence of petty criminals who would take advantage of the event, as they are aiming that no crimes would happen during the activity. (AYB / TPT)
