A MOTORCYCLE-HAILING app driver received a reward from Cebu City Police Office Chief Colonel Ireneo Dalogdog.

The Move It taxi rider, identified only as Marlon, successfully apprehended a snatcher following a brief chase on Colon Street last May 24.

The victim was able to recover the stolen items, such as wallet with cash and other documents and a cellphone.

He said this was his second encounter with a snatcher; his first occurred when he was still a tanod in Barrio Luz.

Marlon added he used the techniques he had learned in police training to apprehend a snatcher.

Dalogdog praised Marlon for what he accomplished since he followed his instincts and risked his life to apprehend the culprit.

“Talagsaon ra kaayo ni siya kay naa siyay kaisog ba, mao na nga gitagaan nato siya og recognition, naa sad tag gihatag nga cash,” Dalogdog said.

(His courage is unique, that's why we gave him a recognition and cash.)

Marlon said that he was waiting for a customer to book on their app when he heard the traffic enforcer asking to chase the snatcher.

“Maoy akung nasugatan nga ang Citom ni syagit nga niingon nga snatcher gukora ninyo. Walay pagduha-duha, diretso sad kog gukod pero sa akung huna-huna, presence of mind lang ko nga ma safety ra sad ko,” according to him.

(I came across the Citom shouting and ordering to go after the snatcher. I immediately gave chase and used my presence of mind to ensure my safety.) (AYB/TPT)
