A NUMBER of people, locals and foreigners alike, trooped to Malacañan sa Sugbo on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, for the opening of the first national museum in Cebu City.
The National Museum of the Philippines (NMP)-Cebu opened its doors as early as 7 a.m. Tuesday.
Museum guide Carrissa Remonde told SunStar Cebu that they did not expect the support from Cebuano museum goers, as they recorded around 200 visitors on the first hour of its opening, while they lost count of the visitors who arrived hours after the museum was opened to the public.
A long queue of visitors was noticed Tuesday. Most of those who came were families, students, and foreign nationals.
Marco Castro, a mechnical engineering student from Cebu Technological University (CTU), said he did not expect the size of the museum inside and its aura.
"Wa ko ga expect nga dako siya kay kung tan-awon nimo’s gawas, gamay at the same time di kay lively. Mao to wa ko ga expect sa sulod kay nindot as well as lively," he said.
(I did not expect that the museum is big because when you look at it outside, it seems small and not that lively. But when I got inside, the museum is big, nice and lively.)
Castro also appreciated the museum for introducing the rich history of Cebu.
