AN OFFICIAL of the Archdiocese of Cebu said they will not release an Oratio Imperata amid the presence of African swine fever (ASF) that has already taken a toll on the livelihood of some Cebuanos.

Msgr. Joseph Tan, spokesperson for the archdiocese, told SunStar Cebu Tuesday, March 14, 2023, that they will wait for the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines' (CBCP) lead to release the prayer.

"Regarding ASF, wala pay prayer. I think ang CBCP maoy mo initiate ana for the country para ka uniform if ever they will have one," Tan said.

He encouraged business owners to remain steadfast despite the ongoing crisis.

"We still need to monitor and study the situation," he said.

"As always like any crisis, we can pray individually for our protection and for the protection of all," Tan said, assuring the public that experts are already handling the situation.

Tan also asked the cooperation of the public to adhere to policies of the authority, and take the time to reflect.

"Let us exercise caution, cooperate with government advisory, pray, and have hope, use the crisis as an opportunity to do good for humanity," said Tan.

Due to the prevalence of ASF that has infested pigs in Carcar City, more than 100 pigs from three barangays were culled on Friday, March 10.

To recall, both the Cebu Provincial Government and the Cebu City Government prompted to ban pork products coming from Carcar City. (KJF)
