SEVERAL activities that will involve different sectors have been lined up for the 54th Charter Month celebration of Mandaue City in Cebu.
The Mandaue City Government has allocated around P17 million for the celebration this year that has a theme “Move Mandaue,” said officials in a press conference Tuesday, August 8, 2023.
"Our activities are not just for inter-department events or internal events. As you can see, our theme for this charter celebration is Move Mandaue, and we are here to move together with Mandaue," said Kristian Marc Cabahug, executive director of Mandaue Investment Promotions Tourism Action Center (Miptac).
Last year's celebration was all about inter-departments activities, but for this year, they are involving different sectors for activities such as Kaabag Night, Coop Night, Women’s Night, and Tanod Night, among others.
The Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry will also conduct activities for the Mandaue Business Month in line with the Charter Month activities.
Mandaue Sports Commission officer Mary Joy Tabal Jimenez said they have different sporting events that include basketball, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, long tennis, and chess competitions.
"As for today, close na among entries kay overwhelming man kaayo atong mga participants especially from different national agencies nga naa diri sa Mandaue City," said Jimenez.
She added that only the departments and national agencies of Mandaue City are allowed to participate in the sports events, while the rest of the competitions are open for everybody.
"All events are free of charge, open to all Mandauehanon, not just in mandaue but also the Cebuanos, or anyone coming from different places. This is open for everyone," said Cabahug.
"We would like to invite everybody, foremost Mandauehanon even from Metro Cebu to participate and join our different activities for our 54th Charter Month celebration," said Karla Victoria Cortes, Public Information Officer.
