OVER P12 million worth of illegal drugs were confiscated in a buy-bust operation in Sitio Paula Maria, Barangay Inayawan, Cebu City at 4:52 a.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2022.
Police identified the suspect as Alexander Luy Ponce alias Kevin, 31, who hails from Barangay Pardo, but temporarily residing in Inayawan together with his live-in partner and assistant Jessie Sabejon Abadiano, 31, of Sitio San Vicente, Barangay Bulacao.
Major Remon Jake Aguho, chief of Inayawan Police Station, said Ponce admitted being involved in illegal drug activity, and identified his drug supplier as a certain Faryll Raganas alias Faye, believed to be a big-time drug personality who is currently detained at Cebu City jail.
Ponce told police that somebody would just call him that they would see each other at the parking lot of a mall in Barangay Mabolo, or in the downtown area where he would get his supply of shabu.
Aguho said they subjected the suspect under case buildup and surveillance for a month before they conducted the raid after receiving information from residents that the latter had a lot of money even if he did not have a job.
“Walang trabaho tapos sabi ng mga kapitbahay marami siyang pera, so one month namin nag conduct kami ng monitoring and surveillance para ma sure talaga namin yung info,” said Aguho.
(He is jobless but his neighbors said he has a lot of money, so we conducted monitoring and surveillance for one month to verify the information.)
Raganas was arrested for illegal drugs in May 2020.
His drug distribution networks include Inayawan, Poblacion Pardo, Bulacao and the neighboring barangays in Talisay City.
Cebu City Police Office Chief Colonel Ireneo Dalogdog thanked his men for their successful anti-illegal drug operation in coordination with Inayawan barangay officials.
Dalogdog instructed Aguho to also monitor drug personalities coming from the neighboring barangays, especially Barangay Tangke in Talisay, who would transfer to Cebu City to sell illegal drugs.
It can be recalled that in March 2019, at least 18 kilos of substance believed to be shabu worth P190.4 million were confiscated from Elymar Ancajas during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Inayawan. His arrest also led policemen to capture big-time pusher Jocelyn Encila in Consolacion town, northern Cebu.
On October 5, 2020, two other drug personalities were arrested in Fatima Homes, Barangay Inayawan for having in their possession around P45 million worth of illegal drugs.
The suspects were identified as Reynaldo Si-it Atillo, 47, and Reynante Cabije Tacatani, 36. (AYB, TPT)
