P1.33M given to Badac focal persons, pastors

THE 27 Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (Badac) focal persons and 10 pastors received a total of P1.33 million worth of cash allowances on Nov. 20, 2020.

This was given by the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (Cadac) at the session hall during the culminating activity of the Drug Abuse Prevention and Control (DAPC) Week.

In an interview with Mandaue City Councilor Nerissa Soon-Ruiz, the focal person of Cadac, she said the allowances were requested by the focal persons of the barangays during their strategic planning last year.

She said Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes wanted to grant the request of the Badac and with that, they are given P4,000 per month starting this year.

However, due to the pandemic, Ruiz said their allowances were delayed.

Ruiz said each focal person has received P40,000, which is worth 10 months of their allowance.

She said during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in April and May, the Badac activities were suspended so they did not count those months.

Each Badac focal person, Ruiz said, is required to hand over his accomplishment report with the documentation of the series of activities done by the community’s drug warriors despite the pandemic.

Ten other pastors also received P10,000 each and it serves as their allowance for giving spiritual counseling to the drug warriors as part of the Badac’s rehabilitation programs.

She said the Badac focal persons were not expecting this early Christmas gift from the city.

Ruiz also said that in 2021, P150,000 will be allocated for each barangay to be used for the rehabilitation and immersion activities of Badac.

Each year the Cadac has an allocated budget of P10 million, said Ruiz. / KFD
