IN JUST a day, local police in Cebu City seized more than a kilo of substance believed to be shabu worth P14.4 million.

Operatives of the Sawang Calero Station conducted a raid in the barangay’s fish port on Tuesday night, Sept. 20, 2022, and recovered the illegal drugs worth P7.4 million, based on the standard drug price, from 26-year-old John Mark Cuizon, alias Okong, a resident of Sitio Mahayahay, Barangay Pasil.

Maj. Francis Renz Talosig, chief of the Sawang Calero Police Station, said they monitored Cuizon’s movements for several days after the latter’s name came up several times while they were questioning other suspects they had arrested.

Talosig said Cuizon operated in Barangay Sawang Calero and neighboring barangays.

He said they considered Cuizon to be a regional level high-value individual because of the amount of drugs seized from him.

Aside from being a “bodegero,” Cuizon also allegedly sold illegal drugs by bulk.

He will be charged with violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165, or the Comprehensive Drugs Act of 2022.

Bacayan drug bust

Earlier in the afternoon, members of the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Talamban Police Station seized substance believed to be shabu worth P7 million, based on the standard drug price, during a raid inside Villa Leyson in Barangay Bacayan.

They arrested Rulan Mahusay Mercado, 29; Ryan Arceo Zamora, 38; and Reynaldo Avila Ardina, 36, who all resided in the subdivision.

Maj. Alvin Llamedo, chief of the Talamban Police Station, said they had been trying to capture the three men for the last two months but the suspects kept changing their addresses.

Mercado, Zamora and Ardina will also be charged with violating RA 9165.
