JESUS Christ sacrificed His life so people may be reunited.

This was the message of Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma in his homily during the Lord's Passion mass on Good Friday, April 10, at the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral.

"There in the cross, offer his life that we, children of God who scattered by sin may once more be re-united. Siya ang gipatay aron kita mabuhi," Palma said.

Palma said the presence of Jesus Christ is with the patients in hospitals and frontliners like doctors, nurses, and men and women in uniform who could not go home because they have to ensure the safety of everyone.

He said Christ is also with the people whose family member died because of coronavirus disease (Covid-19), adding that everyone should pray to put a stop in the growing number of Covid-19 mortalities.

In the closing ceremony of the Siete Palabras, Palma said that unity, helping each other and appreciation of what each one can do are the ingredients of true harmony.

"Sayod kita nga duna pay harmony, duna pay healing, duna pay maayong relasyon nga atong gipangayo sa panahon sa covid," Palma said.

Some of the reflectors during this year's Siete Palabras are Humaida Jumalon, chairman of local spiritual assembly of Bahai in Cebu City, and Rose Liza Osorio, an environmental lawyer and managing trustee of the Philippine Earth Justice Center Inc.

Jumalon and Osorio had a dialogue about the environment being affected by the greediness and selfishness of the people.

"Kinahanglan atong masabtan nga naay kadaot sa atong kalikopan, naa puy epekto ana sa katawhan," Jumalon said. (JCT)
