THE police chief of Cebu City has questioned the move of Tejero Barangay Councilor Jessielou Cadungog's family to let village officials search their house on Thursday night, August 2.

"Barangay conducted search? Kailan ba naging authorized ang barangay stations to conduct search? Kon ano ang maging resulta, kanila na yun," said Superintendent Royina Garma.

Cadungog's family requested the barangay officials to search their house after receiving a report that the police have applied for a search warrant.

They are afraid that the police will plant evidence once a warrant is secured from a court.

"The problem with these people, they are anticipating yung moves ng pulis and thinking negatively," Garma said. "Look at your barangay, drugs are everywhere. You are aware what these people are doing in your barangay and even tanods do not know what they are doing."

She said conducting patrol or surveillance in Tejero and other villages is part of their job.

Two Tejero councilors were present in the search and they did not find any contraband, including firearms.

Cadungog and his bodyguard were charged with murder for allegedly conniving to kill anti-drug operative Police Officer 3 Eugene Calumba last Monday morning. They are also facing an attempted murder complaint for trying to kill Calumba's companion Michael Banua. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
