THE Oslob police are trying to establish whether the skull and other bones found by a firewood gatherer in a remote location in the municipality belongs to an 86-year-old woman who went missing last year.

Police Senior Master Sergeant Archer Birjes of Oslob Police Station told SunStar Cebu that the skull may have belonged to the old woman, thought to be suffering from dementia, who reportedly left their home on October 6, 2022, and did not return since then.

Birjes said they will submit the bones for a DNA test in order to determine whether these belonged to the missing grandmother.

The bones were discovered by a certain Joveniano Buscato, 60, while he was gathering firewood in Sitio Kang-agbon, Barangay Daanlungsod, Oslob around 9 a.m. Friday, September 15, 2023.

Buscato, a resident of the barangay, immediately reported his discovery to the police, who then responded to the scene.

According to Berjis, the place where the bones were discovered was far from the houses. (DVG, TPT)
