Portion of Osmeña Blvd. close to traffic on April 24

A PORTION of Osmeña Boulevard in Cebu City will be closed for three hours on Wednesday, April 24, for the opening procession of the National Youth Day 2019.

Because of the closure, the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) will reroute private and public vehicles that usually pass by the area.

Francisco Ouano, CCTO operations chief, said they expect that the temporary road closure will cause heavy traffic near the area as it will be implemented during peak hours.

“We are expecting around 40,000 participants that is why we urged those with no urgent and important commitment near the procession route to avoid the area,” Ouano said.

Though the religious activity will start at 6 p.m., road closure will start at 5 p.m.

The opening procession will start from Cebu City Sports Complex and will pass through P. del Rosario St., to Osmeña Blvd., to F. Gonzales St., Magallanes St., then to Magellan's Cross and Basilica Minore del Santo Niño.

A total of 90 personnel will be deployed to manage the traffic.

Private and public vehicles coming from from Lahug, Apas and Ayala passing along N. Escario St., will have to access R.R. Landon St., Junquera St., Sanciangko St., and Pelaez St. towards the downtown area.

Public Utility Jeepneys (PUJs) and private vehicles coming from N. Bacalso Avenue will have to take Leon Kilat St., turn left to Magallanes St., left turn to Borromeo Street to their usual route while those coming from Talamban and Pit-os with Route Nos. 13B, 62B and 62C while traversing along V. Gullas St., will have to access D. Jakosalem St. to their usual route.

PUJs and private vehicles coming from Guadalupe and Banawa area, Ouano said will have to pass by V. Rama Avenue. (RVC)
