OPERATIVES of the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit in Central Visayas and the Alegria Police Station served arrest warrants to a six-month-old pregnant woman in the southwestern town of Cebu on Saturday morning, October 8, 2022.
Darna (not her real name), the 21-year-old accused, was charged separately with two counts of Republic Act (RA) 10175, or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012; and two counts of RA 9995, or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009, in relation to RA 7610, or the Child Abuse Law.
She allegedly recorded a sex video and took nude photos of two underage siblings.
Regional Trial Court Branch (RTC) 65 Judge Glenda Ching Go in Talisay City issued the warrant for the two counts of RA 1075 and recommended bail of P200,000 for each count.
RTC Branch 62 Judge Francis Rainer Navarrete in Oslob issued the warrant for the two counts of RA 9995 in relation to RA 7610 and recommended bail of P42,000 for each count.
Senior Master Sergeant Villa Dona Ybañez, chief of the Women’s and Children Protection Desk in Alegria, said the video and the photos were reportedly taken when the victims were still in day care or in Grade 1.
She said the matter didn’t come to light until the accused and the mother of the victims had a fight.
Ybañez said Darna told the mother that she had a sex scandal of the latter’s children that she recorded several years ago.
Even though Darna later said she already deleted the video and the photos, there was enough basis to charge her in court.
According to the victims’ affidavits, the accused recorded them on video and took photos while they committed sexual acts after which she gave them chocolates and P20 each.
The victims, who are now 14 years old, underwent psychological evaluation.
Darna said she will answer the accusations against her in court. (GPL,PJB)
