THE Philippine Statistics Authority in Central Visayas (PSA 7) logged 1,189 incidents of violence against women across the region.
The data covers results of the National Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS) conducted in 2017.
The NDHS is a series of national demographic and health surveys conducted nationwide every five years since 1968, which include a safety module that collects information on domestic violence against women aged 15-49.
According to the data, four in every 10 married women in Central Visayas have experienced physical, sexual or emotional abuse. The PSA will release the results of the NDHS in 2022 in June. (KJF, PJB)
