VEHICLE traffic will be rerouted in the cities of Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu during the Traslacion on Friday, January 13, and Saturday, January 14, 2023.

Edwin Anthony Jumao-as, executive director of the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue, told SunStar Cebu on Saturday, January 7, that there will be minor rerouting in the city on Friday, as the images of the Santo Niño and the Our Lady of Guadalupe de Cebu are expected to cross the boundary of Cebu City to Mandaue City around 7:30 p.m.

Jumao-as said they still have to identify roads that will be affected that day.

Sixty 60 traffic personnel will be deployed to man the traffic, adding that they will make the vehicles stop for 15 minutes in every corner, he said.

Lapu-Lapu City Traffic Management Service head Mario Napuli, for his part, said the first bridge will be closed starting 11 p.m. on January 13, and will be open around 2 a.m. the following day.

Napuli said the entire length of G.Y. Dela Serna (from the intersection of Mantaue Road to the intersection of P. Rodriguez Street in Barangay Looc) will be closed on January 14.

He said the Traslacion route will include the whole stretch of P. Rodriguez Street up to the corner of G.Y. Dela Serna Street, from the first street of Canjulao Junction to the corner of A. Tumulak Street, and S. Osmeña Street from the corner of Ceres Road towards G.Y. Dela Serna Street.

Public utility jeepneys (PUJs) with the MI-03B route will take the Hoops Dome Road and vice versa until the Traslacion is completed.

All PUJs leading to the public market must take MV Patalingjug Avenue, turn right to Sangi Road and continue straight to Caltex, Punta Rizal Street, as their temporary loading and unloading area before returning to their destinations.

PUJs with the MI-03A route will temporary load and unload passengers at the corner of Caltex Chevron Road and P. Rodriguez Street.

All tricycles bound for barrios will temporarily load and unload their passengers at the Gusa Humay-Humay Basketball Court.

All tricycles bound for Babag will temporarily load and unload their passengers at the convergent area at P. Rodriguez and Dad Cleland Streets. (MKG)
