RESIDENTS living in Cebu City’s mountain barangays have been asked to be more vigilant against possible landslides with another weather disturbance expected this week.
Councilor Jerry Guardo, chairman of the committee on infrastructure, told SunStar Cebu on Monday, October 31, 2022, that many barangays in the city are prone to landslides, including Sirao, Malubog, Busay, Guba, Agsungot and Adlawon.
“These barangays are very landslide-prone. Every time there is a heavy downpour, the ground in these areas move. That’s exactly its characteristic,” Guardo said in a mix of Cebuano and English.
Despite this, the City Government has not issued a mandatory evacuation, but Guardo said they have warned residents. (IRT, PJB)
