A TRICYCLE driver was killed after he was shot by riding-in-tandem assailants along the national highway in Barangay Dumlog, Toledo City Tuesday morning, April 18, 2023.
The victim was identified as 35-year-old Junerick Lazaga Teñajora, alias Dagol, who resided in the area. A certain Ampil has been tagged as responsible for the crime.
Staff Sergeant Alfredo De Gracia Jr., investigator of the Toledo City Police Station, said Teñajora was looking for passengers when the incident happened at 8:15 a.m.
Witnesses said the assailants were tailing the victim on a motorcycle when the backrider suddenly pulled out a gun and shot Teñajora in the head.
Teñajora was later taken to the hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. Police recovered a shell of a .45 pistol from the crime scene. According to De Gracia, they are looking at personal grudge as a possible motive.
He said they found out that the victim had a violent quarrel with a fellow tricycle driver over a passenger and believed the shooting was an act of revenge. Apparently, Teñajora had seriously injured the other driver. (GPL, PJB)
