THE Cebuano sailor who was one of four survivors of the ill-fated LCT Cebu Great Ocean has finally reunited with his parents on Friday morning, April 23, 2021.

In a post on his official Facebook page, Talisay City Mayor Gerald Anthony "Samsam" Gullas said Lisa and Warlito Villanueva were able to arrive safely in Surigao City on Friday and was able to meet with their son, Jojie, who was admitted at the Caraga Regional District Hospital.

Gullas said following his meeting with Jojie's parents in their home in Barangay Linao, Talisay City on Thursday, April 22, he immediately ordered his personnel to bring the couple to the Cebu City pier area so that they can travel to Surigao City by boat.

Gullas said he was able to secure the commitment of his friend, Chase Cokaliong, who co-owns Cokaliong Shipping Lines Inc, to provide a free round trip ticket to the couple to Surigao City so that they can meet their son.

Once Jojie recovers and is able to go home, the shipping firm also offered the same privilege to him, Gullas added.

Gullas admitted he felt relieved when he saw a photo of Jojie and his parents finally reunited. (JKV)
