Satellite help desks installed for business permit renewal

THE Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) of Mandaue City has started accepting applications for business permit renewal online and through its one-stop shop Monday, Jan. 4, 2021.

In an interview, BPLO head August Lizer Malate said they have used their Electronic Business Permit and Licensing System (e-BPLS) for clients to renew and apply for business permits online considering the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said they have also installed four satellite e-BPLS help desks where the clients may apply and register online.

These help desks are located in Parkmall, Insular Square, Pacific Mall and at the office of the Mandaue Investment Promotions Action Center (Mipac).

Malate said BPLO personnel assigned at their satellite help desks will assist the clients in processing their applications.

As for the business tax payments and other dues of the business permit applicants under the e-BPLS, Malate said the clients can pay through the nearest payment partners such as 7-Eleven stores, BancNet and ECPay.

Aside from the e-BPLS, Malate said the BPLO has also launched its one-stop shop at their office under the Mandaue City parking building and at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex.

He said they opened the one-stop shop as there are clients who are not familiar with the e-BPLS.

The BPLO has come up with these two methods to avoid overcrowding of applicants in one place and ensure that social distancing and other health protocol are observed.

Malate said they expect 15,000 to 17,000 registrants to secure business permits in 2021.

On the first day of business permit renewal, only a few inquired and applied.

Malate said it has been a habit among clients to process their documents a few days before the deadline, which for this year is on Jan. 20. / KFD
