A SENIOR CITIZEN landed in the hospital after he was shot by his opponent due to a lot dispute in Barangay Batad, San Remigio town, northern Cebu at 6:50 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2023.

Renato Piamonte Domecillo, 60, married, a resident of the said place, is currently being observed at the hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound in the body.

His attacker, Roy Oplas, single, a construction worker who hails from Sitio Banica, Barangay Banban, Bogo City, surrendered to the authorities.

He also turned over the .38 revolver that he used in the crime.

Master Sergeant Leomar Ricaplaza, investigator of San Remigio Police Station, told SunStar Cebu that the victim and the suspect, who were drunk, met at the store where they engaged in an argument.

Domecillo's son claimed that Oplas became irate with his father after accusing him of intruding on their lot during a lot survey.

According to Major Wendell Abellana, chief of San Remegio Police Station, the suspect claimed that the victim attacked him first prompting him to shoot the latter to defend himself.

However, Abellana claimed that they received information that while the suspect opened fire in the air, Domecillo pulled out a knife and stabbed Oplas, injuring the latter.

The said information is still being investigated by the police.

Oplas will be facing charge for frustrated murder. (GPL, TPT)
