A WOMAN landed in jail after being caught taking groceries worth more than P11 thousand from a supermarket inside a mall without going through the counter around 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 24, 2023, in Barangay Poblacion, Liloan town, northern Cebu.

The alleged shoplifter was identified as Lornet Clarin Gatmaitan, 37, from Barangay Sigue, Toledo City.

Her companions fled onboard the Starex van.

Police Staff Sergeant Jayson Gayo of the Liloan Police Station told SunStar Cebu that the suspect was shopping at the Gaisano Grand Mall supermarket with her companions when she was intercepted by the house detectives on their way out after failing to pay the groceries to the cashier.

The canned goods worth P11,53.25 were recovered from Gatmaitan.

Upon review of the establishment’s CCTV footage, it was learned that Gatmaitan repeatedly visited the supermarket three times.

They reportedly took some food items and loaded them into the van.(GPL, TPT)
