THE Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) 7 has opened a new Airport Bus Service with 15 new units that cater to passengers from the Mactan-Cebu International Airport to the Cebu South bus Terminal, and vice versa.
LTFRB 7 Director Ahmed Cuizon said there are five designated stops in between the route: Fuente OsmeƱa, SM City Cebu, North Bus Terminal, Pacific Mall and Mepz 1. Passengers can only embark and disembark in designated areas.
The airport buses are operated by Sugbu Transit Inc.
Cuizon said they are waiting for the delivery of the 40 modern public utility jeepneys (PUJs) that will serve two missionary routes (at 20 units each) that they have established primarily for call center agents and patients of hospitals and health institutions.
One missionary route is in Mactan Island (Lapu-Lapu City, Cordova and the Loop), while the other is in Cebu City (Barangay Guba to the Cebu Business Park, and vice versa.)
These two missionary routes will be operated by Pestano Corp., represented by Cebu Integrated Transport Services Inc.
Cuizon said the missionary routes are still open for applications by interested investors in modern PUJs.
Cuizon said they are bent on implementing the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program to avoid road accidents.
