THE Cebu Provincial Government conducted a ceremonial distribution of free educational supplies in the northern town of Catmon on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, which coincided with the celebration of World Teachers’ Day.

Governor Gwendolyn Garcia led the distribution, which was witnessed by students, teachers, parents and beneficiaries of the Sugbo Kahanas program.

“Kining atong mga school supplies, ako ni ikasaad ninyo, samtang ako pay gobernador, ipadayun ta gyud ni pagapod-apod ang mga school supplies alang sa atong mga kabataan,” she said.

(While I am governor, the Province will continue to distribute school supplies to our students. That’s a promise.)

The governor also distributed toolkits and certificates of completion to 214 Sugbo Kahanas graduates in the fifth district.

She encouraged the recipients to use the toolkits to start their own business, which is one of the main objectives of the free livelihood skills training program.

Garcia has been going around the province to distribute free school supplies to kindergarten and grade 12 students since face-to-face classes resumed in August.

She said she will make the free school supply program an annual program, having started it during her first three terms as government.

The Provincial Government targets to distribute free school supplies to 133,400 students in the fifth district. (ANV)
