CORDOVA Mayor Cesar "Didoy" Suan has ordered all municipal department heads to mark as absent their personnel who did not attend the flag-raising ceremony.
This came after he noticed that there were only few employees who showed up during the event on Tuesday morning, December 27.
Suan said in his remarks that it is now time for the municipal employees to go back to work to serve the public after spending their long Christmas vacation.
"Akong nakit-an karon pwerte ra natong gamaya. Palihug mga department heads, palihug og check sa inyong mga tawo. Gihatagan ta og chance nga makapahuway. Gihatagan ta og chance sa gobyerno nga maka-enjoy sa pasko. Gihatagan pa gyud ta og petsa 26 nga walay trabaho aron makapahuway ug maka andam karong adlawa," Suan said.
(I observed that there are only a few of us here. Department heads, please check your people. We were given a chance to rest. The government gave us a chance to enjoy Christmas. We were even off duty on the 26th so we can rest and prepare for today.)
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. declared December 26 a special non-working holiday throughout the country to give the people enough time to spend Christmas with their family.
"Kinahanglan nga naa sila karon. Ang wala, abseni gyud ninyo aron makita sa mga tawo Cordova nga kita nagtarong tawn ta sa atong pagpanerbisyo dinhi sa atong munisipyo. Klaro na ha. Trabaho lang walang personalan. Kung masuko, ingna adto mo kasuko sa mayor," Suan said in his message to the department heads.
(They should be here now or else mark them absent so that the people of Cordova would know that we are sincere at work here in the municipality. That’s clear. Just work, it’s nothing personal. If they are angry, tell them to vent their ire on the mayor.)
Suan said there is nothing wrong with enjoying one’s leisure as long as their obligation is not compromised.
"Kung nag happy-happy man gani ta, nag enjoy man gani ta sa atong kaugalingon, dili na mao'y atong i-excuse inig ka-ugma nga maglisod ta og trabaho ug paghatag og serbisyo sa mga tawo sa Cordova," the mayor said.
(If we want to be happy or enjoy ourselves, let us also not make it as an excuse if we cannot be able to report to work and serve the Cordovahanons the following day.) (ANV, TPT)
